it’s not the ultimate horror-fest created

It’s sometimes good, sometimes scary, and sometimes laughably stupid. The marketing for the film was definitely the best thing about it. It was so popular and sold so well that I was convinced I was going to see a completely different film than the one I had seen a few hours earlier. The end result isn’t bad at all, it’s just..

The rest of the film is beautifully shot, scored and paced

Critics, filmmakers and Nicolas Cage all raved about how unrecognizable Cage is and how he gives such a skin-crawling performance that you can’t tell it’s him. I’ll just break the news and say that you can definitely tell it’s Cage, and he makes it a very Nicolas Cage role. He did a great job but I wasn’t quite sure if I should find him funny or creepy. It was a memorable performance, but I was more puzzled and confused than scared.

The story is full of plot holes and the twists veer into very silly territory

It’s a good movie but it’s not the scariest movie of the decade or the entire year.
