In the 1940s, the world was in turmoil and it was crucial to decipher the enemy’s communication codes in a timely and accurate manner. He was noticed by more people because he accidentally solved the difficult problem.

The movie is very long

a total of 2 hours and 40 minutes… going in I thought I would fall asleep and miss some scenes, but the story really kept me awake.

Think of this movie as what Oppenheimer SHOULD have been

Oppenheimer being so long, boring, slow and too politically correct… This movie hits the sweet spot between being insightful/intelligent versus being insightful storytelling/fiction.

If you already know what happened, you’ll see it from a different but very realistic perspective

The flow of the plot is very well thought out, keeping a consistent pace but keeping the content interesting without trying to show off political correctness, and at the same time keeping the story largely true to the history set in China. If you don’t know much about the war in China, you will learn a lot about it.

John Cusack gave an Oscar-worthy performance in the film
