Carla Sophie Gascon talks about the two years of training that went into this demanding role in Jacques Audiard’s film and the two extremes of her own personality that she had to play as Emily and Manita. Jacques Audiard said he was inspired by the idea for the musical from a chapter in the novel about a drug dealer who wants to change his identity.

Most of the story is delivered with musical numbers, so if you don’t like that kind of thing, stay away from it
Along the way, Selena Gomez plays Jessie, the wife of a drug lord who is adjusting to a new life with the children she raised with him after a gender transition she doesn’t know about. Then, of course, we have Carla-Sophie Gascon, who plays Emilie Perez, a gender-swapped drug lord who continues to build her empire (no longer “his”). This movie in particular had a very strange effect on me after I finished it because I went into it blind, and to be honest, you have to, because the movie as a whole is very unexpected and quite comical in places. as well as After the director and cast of the film introduced us, the film started and the audience spread laughter and joy at some aspects of the film, which I appreciated.
The musical performance at the end was boring in my opinion, but I think it summed up part of the story a little
What makes the film stand out the most is its amazing cinematography (which was breathtaking to say the least), the acting by everyone involved and a few musical numbers. Now why do I say “some”; of the musical numbers because most of them are pretty great and impactful to the story, but as the film progressed, the musical numbers became much less appealing than before and as a result, they became clichés. But still don’t listen to me because there is a film for everyone and I really liked some elements of this film and I think most of you will too when it comes out pretty soon. Overall, although not as good as I had hoped, Emily Perez is still a cinematic achievement in terms of musical numbers and excellent acting, which really makes the film more engaging and entertaining.
