Hippo explores the coming-of-age story of two half-siblings: Hippo, a teenage video game addict, and Buttercup, a Catholic Hungarian immigrant with a love for classical music and Jesus. Like the ancient Greek Aphrodite, Buttercup’s love is unrequited by a brother who prefers to indulge in the art of war and mayhem. The result is a hormonal, tragicomic nightmare that has to be seen to be believed.
